In Memorium

The endless days of summers gone,
Under moonlit skies that carry on,
Good times never seem to die.
Sitting on a corner, years ago,
a kid walked up and bummed a smoke.
He said his name was Len; he was only passing through.

A true blue punk with a checkered past,
In and out of prison, but it couldn't last.
He was on the streets, wasting his life away.
Drinking whiskey, falling down the stairs,
Wild eyes starring like he didn't care.
He never listened to what anyone would say;
Wouldn't have it any other way.

It’s been years now since you died.
I get this feeling deep inside,
Like knowing you can never come home.
Now I have to face what I don’t know.

I remember when I got the call,
Reading writing on the wall,
Hoping that this was just a hoax.
Were you playing Russian Roulette?
Were you high as the sky? Did you lose a bet?
The chamber only held one round.

Did you really believe that you would win this too?
Or did you just want all the pain to be through?
Did you ever believe that we would still miss you?
Well we do; I wish you knew.

At the wake, we all gathered ‘round.
Music playing, oh, so loud.
The song on was Amazing Grace.
As someone cried, our boots touched down
On your grave just six feet down.
I knew you'd wanted it that way.

Now you’re gone; long since passed by.
I still find myself asking, “Why?”

It’s been years now since you died.
I get this feeling deep inside,
Like knowing you can never come home.
Now I have to face what I don’t know.
I Don’t know…

Our friends loved their brother dear.
I can't stand watching my friends tears.
Why'd you have to go, have to go that way?
On angles wings on a Friday night,
in a drunken calm, Len took to flight.
Fly away, brother, fly away.

Did you really believe that you would win this too?
Or did you just want all the pain to be through?
Did you ever believe that we would still miss you?
Well we do, I wish you knew.
Want to tell you, that I still do.

It’s taken ten years to write this song.
I’m sorry that it took so long.
I hope somewhere up there you can hear.
I know this comes as a surprise,
but we miss you and I realize,
All the times I knew you were worth these tears.

Fly away, brother, fly away.

DEADIRON Cleveland, Ohio

Born on the storm-battered industrial-wasteland of Lake Erie’s shores, Cleveland metal titans Deadiron find themselves on the precipice of change. Dire economic conditions, line-up changes, and a political climate rife with tension have torn apart many a band, but those elements only forged members of Deadiron into a unit bound and determined for musical domination. ... more
